Sousa is one of Vinho Verde DOC's nine sub-regions, an inland zone along the Sousa River in northwest Portugal. More sheltered from direct Atlantic influence than the coastal sub-regions, its granite soils produce drier, more mineral-driven wines with good structure, transitioning toward the Douro Valley's character.
